Barely 24 hours after a deadly shooting outside the WalMart on Chef Menteur Highway in Gentilly Woods, New Orleans Police have arrested a suspect on a charge of second degree murder.
Around 11:25 a.m. Tuesday, a gunman shot and killed a man near a bus stop outside the store. Witnessed said the shooter fled into the store, and NOPD SWAT made a sweep of the building before determing the killer had left the scene.
Police say evidence led homicide detectives to 20-year-old Gregory Woods, and arrested him today.
"He was apprehended in New Orleans East without incident," said New Orleans Police Capt. Kevin Burns. "We are pleased that we brought justice in the swiftest way possible."
