Cops tracked down a group of alleged kidnappers Saturday and pursued them across the Causeway Bridge.
It all started early Saturday.
"At around 7:00 am this morning, deputies were dispatched to an apartment in the 4100 block of Hessmer Avenue in Metairie," JPSO Captain Jason Rivarde said. "Multiple suspects had forced their way into the residence and demanded money from the residents."
He says the criminals then abducted one of the people in the house.
"JPSO investigators and personnel from the US Marshals-New Orleans Task Force and St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office spent the day attempting to locate the suspects. They were eventually located in New Orleans East."
Rivarde says they went to try and rescue the victim.
"When law enforcement personnel attempted to confront the suspects, they fled and led officers on a pursuit through multiple jurisdictions before going onto the Causeway."
He says cops were able to set up ahead of the fleeing car and bring the chase to an end.
"Once on the Causeway, the suspect vehicle was disabled, and 4 suspects were apprehended. The missing victim was found in the suspect vehicle. He was suffering from minor injuries and is expected to fully recover."
The list of crimes is extensive.
"The 4 suspects will be facing a number of charges related to the home invasion and kidnapping along with the vehicle pursuit that ended with their capture."
