We're just a few weeks into January, and already, we have Mardi Gras events on the Calendar, from the Marigny to the Westbank to Kenner.
The very imaginative Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus, parading through the Bywater, Marigny, and French Quarter, celebrates its 15th carnival season with the theme "Rebellions are built on hope."
"It's incredible, it's also wonderful," said Mardi Gras Guide founder Arthur Hardy. "There's so much variety, the artistic nature of the parade."
Hardy says it has more than 2,500 participants and more than 110 units.
Chewbacchus is scheduled to roll at 7 p.m., but could change if the weather dictates.
Across the river, it's the Algiers Mardi Gras Festival, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Federal city. And in Kenner Saturday afternoon, the Krewe of Driftwood rolls at 1 p.m.
