A 50-year-old man is in the hospital after the Coast Guard conducted a medical evacuation from an oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico.
According to Coast Guard officials, watchstanders with Coast Guard Sector New Orleans got a call around 5 a.m. Monday from a platform about 35 miles south of Grand Isle. That call said the patient was suffering from chest pains and needed immediate medical attention.
The Coast Guard sent an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter to the vessel to airlift the man to University Medical Center in New Orleans. The patient’s condition is reported to be stable.
