The old saying is... no good deed goes unpunished.

Well, that was the case for the people aboard a fishing boat off the Louisiana coast that were trying to help those on another fishing boat.

"The Coast Guard rescued six people from two disabled fishing vessels Saturday approximately 70 miles east of Venice, Louisiana," according to a news release.

The six individuals had been stranded since Friday evening.

"Coast Guard Sector Mobile watchstanders received a report from a good Samaritan Friday at approximately 6:30 p.m. of fishing vessel Georgia P being disabled approximately 70 miles east of Venice, Louisiana. Fishing vessel Seahorse responded to the tow of fishing vessel Georgia P. During the tow, the Seahorse also became disabled."

Authorities sent a chopper to get them Saturday.

"Watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and successfully hoisted six people from both vessels."

All six men are reported to be in stable condition.

"Salvage plans will be coordinated by the owners."
