Coroner: Dismembered woman beaten, strangled to death

Dardar
NOPD

Julia Dardar, the woman whose dismembered remains were found in a freezer in the Upper Ninth Ward, died of "blunt force injuries of the head and neck with asphyxia due to manual strangulation," the New Orleans Coroner's Office says.

Police discovered Dardar's torso and other body parts in a freezer at a house on Pauline St. last week. Officers were investigating a missing persons report on Dardar and grew suspicious after speaking with the resident of the home, Benjamin Beale. Detectives obtained a search warrant and found the body parts in a freezer on a bus parked on the property.

Police initially arrested Beale on obstruction, gun, and drug charges. Murder charges were filed days later.

Beale faces a total of eight charges. His next court date is scheduled for March 13 for the drug charges and March 16 for the second-degree murder charge.
