Video of a homicide victim being dragged down porch steps has led to the firing of an Orleans Coroner's Office employee.
The video was captured by a ProjectNOLA camera, which the organization posted to its Facebook page.
It shows the worker dragging a body bag out of the front door of a residence in the 4200 block of Royal St. The worker pauses at the edge of the porch, then proceeds to bump the bag down the steps.
"After 60 years in the medical profession, this has got to be the low point for me," said Dr. Dwight McKenna, coroner for New Orleans. "This is a reprehensible act that cannot be condoned."
McKenna said others on the scene, including other employees of the coroner's office and members of the NOPD, were available to help the employee carry the body, but the worker proceeded to drag the body down the steps anyway.
