Craving seafood? Louisiana Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain says this is the time to get some crabs from your favorite local seafood spot … because they’re some of the BIGGEST he’s ever seen.
“I was in St. Bernard Parish at White Boot Warriors and he’s got some of the biggest crabs I’ve ever seen. I’ve been doing this a long time and I’ve never crabs this fat,” Strain pointed out enthusiastically.
Strain was also quick to add that buying and eating Louisiana caught seafood is crucial to both employing local fishermen and ensuring that you’re eating the best quality seafood available. “If we want a strong seafood industry, we have to consume fresh, local, certified Louisiana seafood. That means shrimp, crabs, crawfish … and don’t forget about those oysters,” adds Strain.
The Agriculture Commissioner emphasized that he’s been dealing with seafood in the area for a long time, but this is one of the most impressive harvests he’s ever seen in the region. Strain goes on to say, “They are really nice! The weather conditions have been just right and I’ve never seen crabs that fat. The crabs they’ve been catching lately are just tremendous.”
