Decatur business owners win concession from Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans

The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans says it will take down the rest of the fencing around Decatur Street in the lower French Quarter, in a settlement with business owners who filed a lawsuit against the agency.

Bob Ellis, a lawyer for the businesses, told WWL-TV what else his clients got.

"The main thing was the removal of the barricades," said Ellis. "And if there's going to be any other barricades, going up; 72 hours notice, they have to give us a construction schedule, so the business is well aware if what kind of time frame they're looking at."

Ellis says his clients are still seeking damages for the lost business, and that phase of the case comes next.
