The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office has announced details of the plan to honor a fallen deputy.

"As part of the funeral services of Deputy Ohlmeyer, a procession will take place on February 5, 2026," Captain Jason Rivarde detailed. "The procession is expected to begin around 2:00 pm at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center."

He encourages residents and business owners along the route to participate by wearing blue to greet the procession, and by decorating the outside of their residences or businesses in blue.

"Every show of support is meaningful for his family and the members of the Sheriff's Office."

The procession is expected to take about and hour on the following route:

Airline Dr.  to Roosevelt Blvd.

Roosevelt Blvd. to West Metairie Ave.

West Metairie Ave. to David Dr.

David Dr. to Airline Dr.

Airline Dr. to Garden of Memories, 4900 Airline Dr.

Ohlmeyer died last week when a driver ran into him as he was directing traffic for a funeral procession on Airline Highway in New Orleans.

A GoFundMe has been established by Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office with the blessing of the Ohlmeyer family.

Rivarde says, "Funds will be used to provide for veteran JPSO Deputy Chris Ohlmeyer's wife and children as we all navigate the unspeakable tragedy of Chris's death."

As if this morning, the effort had raised $144,520 for the widow and kids.

The Ohlmeyer family released a statement.

"We express our sadness at the loss of our beloved Deputy Christopher P. Ohlmeyer. He was not only a dedicated law enforcement officer, but a loving family member and someone who lived his life in service to others. Christopher was deeply committed to protecting his community and serving with honor, integrity, and compassion. His badge was an important part of who he was, but to us, he was more. He was a person who impacted the lives of everyone who knew him. We are heartbroken by this loss and ask for privacy as we grieve and support one another during this difficult time. We are grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community, the Sheriff’s Office, and our extended law enforcement family. We hope that Christopher will be remembered for his service and his sacrifice."
