Oil prices backed off a little over the weekend, but that didn't stop the average price for a gallon of regular hitting $4 in Louisiana.
AAA's Don Redman says it's hard to remember when you had gas prices going up in September,
"Unless there was a hurricane, we always anticipated these prices going down as we got into September/October," Redman said.

And Redman says refineries usually make less gasoline when we get to the fall months to start concentrating on making other petroleum products as gasoline demand falls.
"As we get into October, November, this is when refineries, usually, typically, start focusing on diesel and jet fuel and all that, just because gasoline demand is way down," said Redman.
But the unpredictability of the war on Iran and Russia's war on Ukraine means investors aren't giving the oil market a break any time soon.
Meanwhile, diesel hit a new record high in the state at $6.03 per gallon.
