A Jefferson Parish Grand Jury has indicted a woman in the murder of a little girl in Harahan.
The District Attorney's office secured an indictment for first degree murder in the case against Bunnak "Hannah" Landon.
That means the panel believed there was enough evidence for Landon to go to trial for allegedly killing 6-year-old Bella Fontenelle.
The coroner says the child was beaten and strangled to death.
Police say Fontenelle's body was stuffed in a bucket and Landon left the body on the Fontenelle's mother's front lawn.
Landon was Fontenelle's father's girlfriend.
The indictment comes three months after the murder. The punishment for first degree murder can include the death penalty, but a spokesman for Jefferson Parish District Attorney Paul Connick says prosecutors will not pursue capital punishment.
Investigators say video showed Landon pulling a wagon down the street with the bucket in the wagon.
The murder happened on the night of April 25th, 2023. Fontenelle's father realized his daughter was missing the next morning. Shortly after he told Harahan Police that the six-year-old was gone, officers discovered her body in the 12 gallon, chlorine bucket.
