“Every effort must be made to make this happen,” a document obtained by WWL-TV reads showing the builders of collapsed structure were anxious to get the building topped out by end of September.
Another email dated September 24 states Citadel Builders wrote to Heaslip Engineering that they “don't have time for the engineering calculations” relating to additional metal holding up the proposed bar and rooftop pool deck.
Though these communications might appear that the contractor was rushing, there is not enough evidence to show proof regulations were compromised.
“To be clear, the issues discussed in the referenced emails had nothing to do with the structural stability of the building or the collapse,” says Andy Anderson with King Company, a subcontractor told the television station. Anderson says the roof metal joists in question were not on site when the collapse occurred.
Meanwhile, the developer of the site filed a lawsuit on the first anniversary of the collapse against Citadel Builders and 18 subcontractors
