Postal employee from Houma awaits sentencing for stealing packages

Federal authorities say postal worker faces up to five years behind bars after admitting he stole packages intended for delivery.

"Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced today that JORRY HARRISON (“HARRISON”), age 38, of Houma, Louisiana, pled
guilty April 24, 2025 to Destruction of Mail," according to a news release.

Prosecutors say Harrison worked in the post office.

"HARRISON, while employed as a Postal Service employee, unlawfully opened packages, intended to be conveyed by mail, that had come into his possession while he worked on a Small Parcel and Bundle Sorter."

Sentencing is set for July 31, 2025.

"At sentencing, HARRISON faces up to five (5) years imprisonment, up to a $250,000 fine, up to three (3) years of supervised release, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee."
