Kenner Mayor Ben Zahn claims a Jefferson Parish councilmember and a political consultant tried to get his help in fixing the Kenner Police Chief's race.
Zahn says he recorded his November meeting with Councilman Dominic Impastato and political consultant Greg Buisson in which he says the two tried to get him to convince Mike Sigur not to run for police chief. Zahn also says he forwarded his claims to the FBI.
Zahn says Impastato and Buisson offered, in exchange, to make sure Zahn would run unopposed for reelection. Impastato recently endorsed Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser who is challenging Zahn in the mayor's race.
Buisson says the Kenner mayor's allegations are "flawed logic and a flawed premise." Impastato also denied Zahn's claims of election rigging.
The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate reports that Buisson's firm used to represent Zahn, but a few weeks ago announced it was no longer working for him.
