New Orleans Police say bullets were flying on Canal Street near the river overnight.
"The NOPD is investigating a shooting in the 100 block of Canal Street. Initial reports show two gunshot wound victims – one male and one female – located on scene," Senior Public Information Officer Aaron Looney said in an email.
The call came in just after midnight.
"Victims walking when suspect approached from behind and fired shots, striking victims. Victims transported to local hospital via EMS," according to an initial police report.
Looney did not release anything about the victims' conditions.
"No additional information is currently available."
