New Orleans Police say a man sleeping in a vehicle on Bourbon Street Sunday afternoon became the victim of a carjacking.
"Suspect entered vehicle and drove away while victim was asleep inside," according to an initial police report.
It happened in the 1100 block Bourbon Street, between St. Phillip and Ursulines just after 4:00pm. The carjacker drove to New Orleans East.
" Suspect stopped vehicle in 4000 block of Chef Menteur Hwy., forced victim from vehicle and demanded victim’s property at gunpoint."
The gunman they took off in the SUV.
"Suspect fled in victim’s 2015 white Chevrolet Capitva."
