Police in St. Tammany Parish tracked down a man wanted for killing a social media influencer.
The woman known as Beauty Couch was found murdered in Florida.
Today detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Proactive Enforcement Unit announced they found and arrested the man suspected of killing Couch in Atlanta.
"Members of the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force contacted the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Friday regarding the suspect of a murder investigation that occurred within Cobb County, Ga., having possible ties to St. Tammany Parish," Sergeant Suzanne Carboni said in a news release.
Northshore cops searched several areas around Slidell for 21-year-old Eugene Louis-Jocques.
He was wanted for charges of murder, arson and aggravated assault in connection with Couch's death.
Carboni says Couch was Louis-Jocques' girlfriend.
"Couch’s body was located not far from... her burning vehicle Wednesday (August 23) afternoon in the Austell, Ga., area."
She announced today that detectives conducting surveillance observed Louis-Jocques driving on Oak Harbor Boulevard near Landmark Drive Friday afternoon.
"A traffic stop was conducted, and Louis-Jocques was taken into custody without incident and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center as a fugitive."
He is awaiting extradition to Georgia.
“Let the message be that we do not take kindly to people who think they can commit a crime elsewhere and try to hide in St. Tammany Parish,” Sheriff Randy Smith said. “We were happy to help our counterparts in Georgia by locating this suspect and taking him into custody so he may face justice and Miss. Couch’s family can begin to receive closure during this difficult time.”
