The New Orleans Police Department is searching for a man they call a "violent" carjacker.

Police say Arthur Cook "violently attacked" a driver at Banks and South Salcedo streets on February 12, stealing and fleeing in the victim's car.

Police say Banks is also wanted for an armed robbery in January.

"On January 16, 2026, Arthur C. Cook committed a simple robbery in the 3300 block of Baudin Street," said police. "Cook violently attacked the victim and stole property before fleeing."

Anyone with information is asked to call NOPD First District detectives at (504) 658-6010, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 or toll free at (877) 903-7867 (STOP).

Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward.
