The suspect wanted in connection with two separate New Orleans shootings, one of which led to a man's death, is in jail on carjacking, attempted murder, and murder charges.
According to a New Orleans Police Department spokesperson, NOPD officers arrested Cody McClairen, 19, was arrested on July 18 in connection with the two incidents, which happened just two blocks away from each other in the Hoffman Triangle.
Investigators say McClairen shot a man during a carjacking and attempted armed robbery in the early morning hours of July 8 on First Street near South Roman. The victim was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his wound.
Three days later, on July 11, officers say McClairen shot another man during an armed robbery on Second Street near South Derbigny Street. That man was taken to the hospital and died of his injuries on July 22, four days after McClairen's arrest.
Investigators say McClairen led them on a foot chase when they found him. They also say they found a handgun in McClairen's possession when they arrested him.
McClairen is being held in the Orleans Parish Justice Center without bond.
