New Orleans police have identified the man they say shot and killed another in the French Quarter on Sunday night.
According to an NOPD spokesperson, Reginald Batiste, 37, is facing a second-degree murder charge in the deadly shooting that happened around 8:40 p.m. Sunday on Bienville Street near Decatur Street.
Investigators say Batiste and the victim were involved in a fight before Batiste pulled a gun and shot the victim multiple times. Batiste, police say, then ran away from the scene. Officers who heard the gun shots responded to the scene and found the victim dead. Some of those officers chased Batiste, catching him and detaining him for questioning. Batiste was later booked into the Orleans Parish Prison.
The shooting remains under investigation.
