New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said Monday that she is sorry about hitting two pedestrians with her car in the French Quarter over the weekend.
"If I had seen them, I probably would have not-- we wouldn't have had the accident," Kirkpatrick told WWL-TV.
Kirkpatrick said she was returning from visiting an injured police officer in the hospital when the incident happened.
"I'm so sorry for what happened, and I'm so grateful that the two people involved are going to be fine," Kirkpatrick said.
According to police, Kirkpatrick took a breathalyzer test and it came up 0.0. The chief said Louisiana State Police will review the investigation.
"It is under investigation and when it is completely finished, I'm going to ask and have asked for the state patrol to look at that investigation as well," she said.
