NOPD investigates a murder in the French Quarter

A man was shot to death in the French Quarter and now the police are gathering evidence as to who may have committed the murder and why.

It happened in the early hours of Monday morning at the intersection of Burgundy and Conti Streets.

“At around 10:27 p.m., NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a call of aggravated battery by shooting at the location.  Upon arrival, officers found one unknown adult male victim suffering with a single gunshot wound.  He was pronounced deceased on the scene,” said an NOPD report.

No additional details are available at this time.  The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
