The New Orleans Police Department announced Monday that they have arrested Coty Thomas Jr. for an alleged auto burglary in the 500 block of Toulouse Street in the French Quarter that happened on June 18.
After further investigation, the NOPD says officers discovered that Thomas was also wanted by Sixth District detectives for an attempted armed robbery in July in the 3300 block of Magazine Street. Thomas was booked for auto burglary, illegal possession of stolen things and attempted armed robbery.
Auto burglaries in the French Quarter jumped 25% over last year according to data from New Orleans City Council’s Crime Dashboard. So far this year there have been 44 auto burglaries in the French Quarter.
