The U.S. oil and gas industry isn't optimistic the Biden administration's banning of Russian oil imports is going to come with any changes in policy for domestic production.

Gifford Briggs, Gulf Coast Region Director for the American Petroleum Institute, says they would just like to see some consistency.

"Industry, above everything else, needs predictability, to know that when we make these investments that the permits are going to come," he told WWL's Newell Normand.

Briggs says without assurances that they will be able to get permits to drill, and agreements to get oil from their wells to refineries, drillers aren't as confident about spending the money it takes to get crude oil out of the ground.
