Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announces his detectives have arrested a Florida woman and are searching for a Florida man on the run, who they say were prostituting a 19-year old girl.
Sheriff Soignet says the investigation started when deputies responded to a disturbance call at a hotel in Terrebonne parish.
Through the investigation, deputies discovered a 19-year-old girl from Alabama was traveling with 30-year-old Katrice Yolanda Brown from Orlando, and Michael Ashford also from Orlando, who allegedly forced the girl to have sex with men in exchange for money.
Authorities say have they arrested Brown at the hotel but Ashford fled the scene before deputies arrived. He remains at large.
“People like this entice young girls from bad living situations into the sex for money trade,” said Sheriff Soignet. “Some of these girls feel they have no way out of their current situations and end up in much worse conditions at the hands of these predators.”
Brown was booked with Enticing Person into Prostitution, Human Trafficking, Racketeering Activity. Authorities are still searching for Ashford who faces similar charges.
