A six-year-old child is in a New Orleans trauma unit after Slidell police say a pit bull attacked the child outside his home.
According to officials in the Slidell Police Department, it happened just before noon Monday at a home just off West Hall Avenue.
Responding officers found the child suffering from severe injuries when they arrived. Investigators say the dog was “temporarily chained in the backyard at the time of the incident.” Slidell Animal Control has since taken possession of the pit bull pending an investigation.
The six-year-old was airlifted to a New Orleans hospital. His condition has not been disclosed.
