NOPD got a call Sunday night of a foul smell, and found a dead man.
"Officers responded to a call of an unfamiliar odor from the location and found a decomposed body," according to a news release.
The medical examiner says the victim was shot and killed.
"The Coroner conducted an investigation and classified the incident as a Homicide by shooting at approximately 1:05 A.M., October 21, 2024."
The release describes the victim as a male.
"The offense occurred in the 3200 block of Iberville Street."
That's near the corner of Iberville and Canal Street.
"Currently, investigators are in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) involved in this incident, as well as a motive.
