Where's the outrage after an illegal immigrant allegedly killed medical student Laken Riley?

A migrant was charged with murder in the death of medical student Laken Hope Riley who went for a run and never returned -- and WWL's Newell Normand said it's time to get outraged.

"It's incredible that those on the left are now saying the offender rate for illegal immigrants is less than American citizens -- why is that the comparison?" Normand asked. "Why is it that we just don't live up to and fulfill the obligation that we have to vet people who come into this country and enforce the existing immigration laws that would force them to be deported."

Police announced the arrest of Jose Antonio Ibarra and charged him with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call and concealing the death of another in Riley's death. The 22 year-old nursing student died from blunt force trauma.

The United States is obliged to monitor the border to keep out undesirables and comparing citizen crime rates with illegal immigrant rates is like comparing 'chalk and cheese' Normand said.

The guy who killed Riley shouldn't have been here. Period, Normand said.

And the U.S. had plenty of chances to deport him. Officials confirmed on Sunday that Ibarra entered the United States illegally.

“U.S. Customs and Border Protection arrested Ibarra Sept. 8, 2022, after he unlawfully entered the United States near El Paso, Texas. He was paroled and released for further processing," Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a statement.

Records also show he and his brother, Diego Ibarra, were then arrested in Georgia for stealing nearly $200 worth of goods from an Athens Walmart. An arrest warrant was out for him when he allegedly murdered Riley.
