Early voting in the New Orleans elections starts in less than a month, and the Hurricane Katrina anniversary we just experienced may still be lingering in voters' minds then.
Hurricane Katrina prompted a surge in civic engagement and a demand for better leadership -- and political analyst Clancy DuBos says reliving those memories could play a role in the race.
"I think the twentieth anniversary of Katrina will play a part in the citywide elections", said DuBos. "Right now, the city is dysfunctional, city government is dysfunctional at a level we haven't seen since the post-Katrina days."
DuBos said voters have once again reached their limits with government that does not work, and are fed up with what they see as self-serving politicians
"People are upset about that and they want a mayor who's going to make the city work again," he said.
