"What wind?" I heard a parade goer say to their friend who was attempting to explain the reason for the shortened routes.
Zulu thundered through the streets, tossing polished, painted, and bejeweled coconuts to every outstretched hand. Older folks handed off their coveted throws to random children standing behind them. Across the street, WWL host Tommy Tucker had a run-in with his sister, who he hadn't seen or spoken to in over a decade due to a falling out. They reconciled and made plans to get dinner. (Check out the moment below.)
There's something in the air. Sources say it's Mardi Gras, and a happy one at that.
After so nearly being canceled yesterday due to the threat of severe weather, the parades are still rolling with as much delirious vim as any year. It's a good Tuesday to be on the second floor of NOLA & Co.'s headquarters here on St. Charles. It's a good Tuesday to be in the City of New Orleans. And it's a good Tuesday to not be anywhere else.
So stay tuned, we'll be updating this page with all the sights and sounds from Mardi Gras as the party rages on.
