In fact, Louisiana state climatologist Barry Keim says you'll want to break out your winter clothes because those cold temperatures will stick around for several days beyond All Hallow's Eve.

"This certainly won't go down in the history of the coldest Halloweens on record, but it's going to be a chilly one, no doubt about it," Keim said, noting that this year's holiday could be one of the top-ten coldest in Louisiana history.

A cold front is pushing those colder temperatures into the New Orleans area, driving temperatures in the 40s by Tuesday night. Keim says if you or your children will be costuming to celebrate Halloween, you'll want to dress accordingly.

"This is not Arctic tundra cold, obviously," Keim said. "A layer underneath just to get people through those chilly moments. It's not going to be absolutely, stunningly, brutally cold out there.

He recommends costumers wear an extra layer, such as long johns or a long-sleeved shirt, underneath their outfits to stay warm.
