Tropical Storm Akará has formed in the Atlantic Ocean -- off the coast of Brazil, south of the equator.
The southern Atlantic is the only ocean basin that doesn't regularly see tropical cyclone formation, but it does happen from time to time.
Ocean temperatures in that part of the Atlantic have been about 0.5 degrees Celsius warmer than normal.
Akará is forecast to remain offshore and weaken as moves south into cooler waters.
