Clinton and Christian were obviously missing their bandmate, Mitchel, currently on vacation in Hawaii (lucky!!!) and are seriously feeling the distance after they all gathered in Los Angeles in 2016 and have been spending every waking hour with each other ever since.
Now with a brand new album on shelves and streaming services almost exactly one year after the coronavirus locked down cities worldwide, the guys filled us in on where their new songs came from for this release and what fans can expect as far as live performances in the near future.
"We did a lot of it before the pandemic started," says Clinton. "I think it was very hard to be inspired at the beginning of COVID, it was a big shock. I think it shook the world in a lot of ways and I think because of that we took our time to release it because we kind of had that block... there was no passion anymore. Since then, we've gradually gotten back into a better creative space."
"We just didn't really feel like making music for a bit, and we had so many great instrumentals," Christian adds. "It was the first time since our first EP's that we went back to recording at home again... So, that was cool to go back to a rawness, like back to O.G. Chase Atlantic, and I think you can hear that in this album versus 'Phases.'"
Asked to describe their sound, Clinton says "it's a chaotic movie that can take any turn... It's a Tarantino movie, it's 'nocturnal bliss.' It's a contrast; it's whatever we feel like we want to make that day. We listen to so many different types of music, even heavy music. At the end of 'OHMAMI,' we just went crazy on that." Christian adds, "We did the whole album by ourselves... and we directed, edited, and produced the video by ourselves, by the way. So, go check it out."
As with most artists itching to get back in front of fans, the band is gearing up to hit the road once again this year with an outing set to begin in the fall. "We're doing a month and a half, October to mid-November," says Clinton. "It's the biggest tour for us, the production's gonna be wild," Christian adds.
