CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Ten people have been arrested for fentanyl-related drug activities on Chicago's West Side.

The individuals are being charged for allegedly conspiring to distribute fentanyl-laced heroin and crack cocaine.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, several of the individuals worked together to prepare, package, and sell the drugs.

One of them ran a drug trafficking organization for over a year.

The arrests were made as the result of a federal drug investigation and multi-year search led with the Chicago Police Department that uses different covert strategies to track down drug trafficking activities.
