(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Kenosha man has been arrested days after he allegedly opened fire inside of a southeast Wisconsin beauty salon.
It happened Friday afternoon, when Kenosha County Sheriff’s deputies responded to LG Beauty Salon in the village of Somers for reports of shots fired.
Through witness interviews and surveillance footage, authorities said they learned that 42-year-old Angel Penalbert-Berrios and a female employee of the salon got into a verbal argument that escalated when Penalbert-Berrios grabbed a gun from his work drawer.
He was accused of firing several shots at the woman — who was not struck — before firing at himself.
Penalbert-Berriosreportedly told police he only wanted to scare the woman, who was not struck by gunfire, and tried taking his own life..
He also claimed to have purchased the gun years ago from a Chicago gang member.
A judge ordered Penalbert-Berrios held on $500,000 bond.
