CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Armed robbers struck at least four times within a half hour in and around the Loop early Thursday morning.

Chicago Police are investigating robberies or attempted robberies in Streeterville and the Loop overnight.

The first happened at 12:25 a.m. near Ohio and Fairbanks, then near Harrison and Clark, Randolph and Columbus and finally Michigan and Wacker.

In each case, police said two armed robbers got out of a car, approached people walking and demanded their belongings.  They hit several of their victims in the head but only two of the eight of them went to the hospital for treatment, including a 66-year-old woman.

Police said she was dragged into the street while another robber fired shots before she let go of her items.

It’s not clear if the same pair is responsible. No one is in custody.
