Halloween may be near, but holiday hiring is already underway. Just beware, not every job offer is a gift.
Kayla Palmore with the Better Business Bureau’s Tip-Off to the Rip-Off® on WBBM Newsradio has what you need to know.
Many look forward to part-time jobs or extra hours, but remember, employment scams are always near the top of the list of riskiest scams, and holiday hiring is prime time for fraudsters.
A fake job offer is even more dangerous because scammers can attain all your personal information, including your Social Security number and your banking information.
Fraudsters also impersonate large legitimate retailers to increase the excitement and can make you take action before thinking.
Be cautious of unsolicited job offers in emails or texts, or phony pop-up ads on social media. Contact the company or check the website to see if the job is real.
