ARLINGTON HEIGHTS (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Chicago Bears want a refund.

In hopes of cutting down the bill at the former Arlington International Racecourse, the Bears have filed a request with the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board. They’re asking for a reevaluation of the 2023 assessment of the more than 300 acre property.

The franchise purchased the space last year for nearly $200 million. The Cook County Board of Review recently ruled that same space to be $125 million.

In recent months, the Bears have focused their attention on a new downtown stadium  rather than building one in Arlington Heights.

The Bears are reportedly seeking a refund around $7 million .
