HAWTHORN WOODS, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADI0) -- After a week of no drinking water coming out of their faucets, residents in and around Hawthorn Woods may see a boil order lifted later today.
Aqua Illinois said the water pressure is back to normal and samples for testing have been submitted. The progress comes a day after another leak was discovered - this one at Spencer Loomis Elementary School. The water company found a suspected water line break near the Hawthorn Trail subdivision on Thursday.
Residents and village leaders have been frustrated by more than a week of not being able to drink the water that affected 1,200 homes at the peak. Aqua has been handing out bottled water at the village’s Aquatic Center, which has been closed because of the water problems.
