Boy, 16, killed in overnight shooting in Little Village; 1 other teen hospitalized

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — One teenager has died, and another was injured after a shooting that took place in Little Village early Sunday morning.

Chicago police said the shooting took place shortly after 1:30 a.m. near 25th Street and Avers Avenue.

A 16-year-old named Jesus M. Sanchez was on the sidewalk when he was shot in the abdomen. Officials said he died from his injuries.

A 15-year-old was also shot. Police said h e was taken to the hospital in good condition with a gun shot wound to the back.

No one is in custody. Police are investigating.
