Police searching for bus passenger alleged to have assaulted CTA employee

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police are investigating the assault of a CTA employee on a bus late Tuesday morning on the South Side.

It happened on a #71 bus CTA bus at about 11 a.m.

The transit agency said a woman got on at 71st and Eberhardt without paying.

A CTA instructor was on the bus. There was a verbal altercation between the two that turned physical.

Police said the woman punched the CTA employee, also a woman, several times with a closed fist and then pulled her off the bus and continued beating her before running away.

The woman was treated at the scene and a hospital for abrasions.

She was in good condition.

“We are outraged by this senseless act of violence,” said CTA President Dorval Carter in a statement.
