(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A unique type of Goodwill store is opening in the southwest suburbs this week.
The Goodwill Outlet in Romeoville will be the first of its kind in Illinois.
“It’s a big difference,” said Dan Michael, vice president of stores and donation centers for the Chicago and Milwaukee areas.
At the high-volume outlet stores, more than 100 tables containing donated items are sold by the pound and regularly rotated in and out.
“It’s just different because [shoppers] are getting items at such a lower price, they have the ability now to buy more items and help out more people.”
Another plus is that the donated items end up being sold, rather than put in landfills, Michael said.
The new location is at 1343 Enterprise Drive.
