(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – The Evanston City Council postponed votes Monday on measures authorizing Northwestern University’s rebuild of Ryan Field so that officials can take a week’s time to review them.

The council voted 6-2 to delay the proposals, including a rezoning request, for one week. They will be considered at a special meeting Nov. 20.

The $800 million redevelopment project has divided the community, including neighbors who fear their quality of life will be affected -- and the council itself. Mayor Daniel Biss was expected to be a tie-breaking vote on whether to move the deal forward.

A major point of contention for opponents is Northwestern's plans to use the new Ryan Field as a concert venue.
