A plea is expected Thursday for David Hanson, 44, a Batavia chiropractor who was accused of secretly filming dozens of patients.
On Nov. 5, 2025, Hanson was arrested and charged with disseminating child sexual abuse material, along with making and disseminating unauthorized videos of more than 108 patients, as they undressed or were nude, according to court records.
Attorneys for patients involved in the case against Hanson said they anticipate a guilty plea in his criminal case.
“A guilty plea would represent an important measure of criminal accountability, but our clients are still waiting for civil justice,” said attorney Elizabeth Fegan in a news release. “These survivors entered a healthcare practice believing that the most basic boundaries of patient privacy would be respected. Instead, that trust was profoundly violated.
If convicted, Hanson faces dozens of years in prison.
"Our responsibility now is to make certain that every available avenue of accountability is pursued and that the institutions and insurers with responsibility do not turn away from these survivors," Fegan said.
