A family argument turned violent when a man fatally shot his sister’s boyfriend late Sunday in Greater Grand Crossing, according to a police report.
Police responded to a call of a person shot about 10:40 p.m. in the 500 block of East 76th Street, and found Mark Hurn, 54, with gunshot wounds to his chest, abdomen and legs, according to the report.
Hurn was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 11:22 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
A witness told officers a family argument erupted about the alleged shooter and the care of his mother. During the quarrel the alleged shooter became hostile toward the 54-year-old and asked him to “step outside,’' according to the report.
Relatives still inside the house then heard three gunshots ring out, found the 54-year-old, who was the boyfriend of the alleged shooter’s sister, and the alleged shooter running away, the report said.
Area 2 detectives were investigating.
