CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --The President of the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police likes the long-awaited outcome of the race for the democratic nomination for Cook County State’s Attorney.
FOP President John Catanzara had told officers to “hold your nose if you have to” and vote in the Democratic primary for Eileen O’Neill Burke, even if they’re Republicans.
"I know some of you are ardent Republicans-100% great conservatives," he acknowledged. "That's well and good, but that isn't gonna move the needle here."
After Burke was declared the winner, Catanzara posted a video on YouTube weighing in on the results.
"For the members who took our advice and pulled a Democratic ballot, contrary to what you may have done for the last several primary elections by pulling Republican ballots, every vote counted and your votes going Democratic this time, made the difference to get Judge O'Neill Burke across the finish line to try and save the city before it is lost forever."
Some saw the FOP involvement as Republicans “meddling” in a Democratic primary.
