(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A long-time former employee of the Cook County Board of Review has been sentenced to three months in prison after pleading guilty to accepting bribes for help in lowering property tax bills.

Danilo Barjacktarevic admitted to accepting $43,000 in payment to lower the assessments of more than two dozen commercial and residential properties.

The former Board of Review deputy told a federal judge before sentencing he lost his way and hurting his family.

Despite claiming to be a middle man, his plea agreement says the man known as “Danny B” acted alone in the scheme that had him accepting cash payments in 2021 from a person cooperating with the FBI in a Skokie parking lot.
