(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – The Pritzker Administration is limiting how much data it will share publicly about abortions in Illinois.
The Illinois Department of Public Health cited safety and privacy concerns when it announced changes to its collecting and reporting of data.
The agency will no longer share what county Illinois residents live in who had abortions or specify which state visitors came from to get treatment here.
IDPH also released abortion data from 2021 that shows nearly 52,000 abortions were performed in Illinois. The agency it is complying with state laws passed after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Roe v Wade; the measures were aimed at protecting the privacy of abortion seekers and providers.
Planned Parenthood of Illinois says there has been a sharp increase in out-of-state patients seeking abortion services in Illinois.
