BENSENVILLE, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Calls for accountability have gotten stronger in suburban Bensenville following sexual assault allegations against a former high school teacher.
Current and former Fenton High School students spoke during public comment at a Bensenville Board of Trustees meeting, which centered on sexual abuse allegations against a former staffer.
"The misconduct from the board is an infuriating realization that this school is not the place that it used to be," one young woman stated.
The meeting comes after the administration disclosed new information revealing they've received sexual misconduct allegations involving the ex-staffer dating as far back as 2011.
"I speak for my community when I say we are outraged and heartbroken that this was allowed to happen in our community," said student Billy Camp.
"We are not only calling for the immediate resignation of the superintendent but also for the investigation to be handed to an outside agency."
Last week, Village President Frank DeSimone wrote a letter calling on Fenton High School District Supt. James Ongtengco to step down.
"I have not received a response to that letter yet. This issue will not be swept under the rug," he said. "I will not stand for that."
A spokesperson for Fenton Community High School District 100 on Tuesday evening said the district does not have an updated statement to provide at this time, according to FOX 32.
The next school board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 24.
